Error 7399: OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' reported an error.

Hello everyone!
I try to setup a linked server connection to an other SQL Server and receive
the following error message:
Error 7399: OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' reported an error.
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'SQLOLEDB' IDBInitialize::Initialize
returned 0x80004005: ].
I am using a trusted connection.
Does anybody have an idea what I am doing wrong here? Or how I can get a
more specific error message?
Thanks for any hints!

Error 21776:[SQL-DMO] The name 'databasename' was not found

I'm trying to delete a database but I get the error message
Error 21776:[SQL-DMO] The name 'databasename' was not found in the Databases
collection. How can I resolve this?
Any help appreciated.
Is it possible that the owner of the DB no longer exists? If so, then rename
it then drop it.

|||I'm not sure why you are getting the error, unless the database collection
in the GUI needs to be refreshed. You might try deleting the database using
Query Analyzer:
DROP DATABASE MyDatabase
If the database name has some strangeness to it, like blank characters,
enclose the name in brackets:
DROP DATABASE [MyDatabase ]
Hope this helps.

Error 21776

I am using SQL 2000 and must have corrupted a database file because I get the following error message:

Error 21776: [SQL-DMO] The name 'MyDatabaseName' was not found in the Databases collection. If the name is a qualified name, use [] to separate varios partes of the name, and try again.

I am not able to detach, open, or remove this database and continue to get this message everytime I try an do anything. I know the MDF is there because I can look at the drive and see it.

Some of the threads recommend using various sp_?, Would I put these in query analyzer? If so, what database should I select to write my T-SQL? Are these global sp_? or should they be specific to the code?

If anyone has the answers, please let me know. Thanks

Perhaps the database has been 'detached' from the server.

Refer to Books Online about using sp_attach_db, or sp_attach_single_file_db

You could be getting the error from already having removed the database - right-click the Databases folder in
Enterprise Manager and select Refresh.

Error 21085: The retention period

When I try to create and manage publication in SQL 7.0, I got the following
error message:
Error 21085: The retention period must be less than the retention period for
the distribution database.
I try to create publishor and distributor on the same server.
Thank you.
can you do a sp_helpdistributor and sp_helppublication. Note the retention
period for your distributor. The retention period for your publication
should be less than or equal to the retention period of your distributor.
