I recently restored a database from tape.
However when I go into SQL Enterprise Manager, I see the
recently restored database showing "loading".
I assumed that this was a good indication however it has
been loading now for the last 12 hours. The database is
about 17 gig.
Is this normal or is it safe to assume that is locked up.
What am I missing here.
Thank a million!
JamesIf you run sp_who2 do you see any RESTORE spids ? If not it may well be that
you just need to run RESTORE DATABASE dbname WITH RECOVERY to recover and
access the database.

How did you restore the database? Are you using any third party tool?
Certain third party tool such as Arcserv may have option for you to
"recover" the database after the restore. If not, it will stay in
loading status until you recover the database manually
To recover the database manually, you can just run the following
statement
restore database <dbname> with recovery

Error 927
I recently restored a database from tape.
However when I go into SQL Enterprise Manager, I see the
recently restored database showing "loading".
I assumed that this was a good indication however it has
been loading now for the last 12 hours. The database is
about 17 gig.

JamesThat is really hard to tell. 12 hours sounds a bit excessive. What version
of SQL? I've restored 1-2 GB databases with SQL 7/2000 in 30 mins.
My one thought is that there may be a very long running transaction that has
to be rolled back. Do you have another backup to try restoring from? You
could always create a separate database on the same server, and force a
restore on that one.
Also, does sp_who reveal any blocks or ROLLBACK transactions? Where is
error 927 show up? When you restored, on the Advanced tab, it did say Leave
database operational, and not one of the other options where you could
restore additional backups, right?
I assume this KB article is not applicable as it is for the msdb database,
but I'll put in just in case
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;319701 (Error 927
restoring the msdb database).
Good luck.

Error 50007: xp_execresultset: unable to get a bound connection back to server
Hi,
I have just resinstalled my server and restored the backup of my database. I am now trying to re-setup replication and I get the above error. The server configuiration:
Win2k3
SQL Server 2000 SP4
Replication: Distributor & Publisher (intended Push Publisher)
Snapshot
Subscriber: Remote server
I have looked around the web for similar problems and resolutions but mine still does not want to work. I have completely removed the replication as per the information on this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324401 but still cannot get it working.
I did not backup the distribution db, master or msdb - only the main database I want to replicate.
Any advice?
Thanx
Dave

You get this error when you have not set up your administrative link
password correctly. Either uncheck this option or ensure that when you
configure your publisher you enter the correct one.

|||Hi,
Thanx for the information. I have managed to get it to work again by creating a new username and password for the distribution agents to use. Initially it was set to impersonate the service account (which is a domain account that the SQL Services use). I would have thought that this would be sufficient. I even gave this account sysadmin privledges.
Also, when I first setup the replication it worked without having to change any usernames and/or passwords. Was the problem because I recovered from a backup?
Thanx
Dave

login(sysxlogins) a sid is made and when you add that login to a database as
a user the sid is copied(sysusers). The sid is unique and different on each
server, even for the same login name. You will not see the users in the
GUI(remember GUI is evil and dumb), however if you query the sysusers of
that database you will see those names. Drop all users using T-SQL and add
them back. Good luck.

Error 21002 : User already exists
Running SQL Server 2000 Enterprise SP3a ( Windows Server 2003 )
I restored several databases from one instance ( on another box ) to another
. Now I am trying to add the users
to the second box ( to duplicate those on the first ) where I restored the d
ata and I am getting this error when
trying to add the database permissions for the user.
I tried working with sp_change_users, but the report shows nothing ( no rows
returned ) .
I tried deleting user using sp_droplogin, it dropped the user, but same thin
g happened again
once I readded him. I also tried the sp_change_users_login ( autofix) to no
avail ( nothing happened )
Any help would be appreciated.
ThanksRun select * from sysusers in the database that you are trying to add the
user. If the user does exist then run the sp_granddbaccess procedure to
grant access to the user. You may then need to run sp_change_users_login
again after verifying that the login exists for this user.
